The mission of Oaklandon School of Environmental Studies is to ensure that each student demonstrates high academic achievement through an integration of environmental studies into a rigorous core curriculum consisting of Readers and Writers Workshop, 5 Easy Steps to Balanced Math Instruction and Project Approach.


The Goal of the Oaklandon School of Environmental Studies

is to develop compassionate, knowledgeable, and globally-linked young people who contribute to their school and local community. Students are provided opportunities to contribute to solutions that lead to the sustainability of the community’s and worlds resources as they achieve their goals in life.


Definitions that Guide Our Work

• Environmental Studies is defined as the interdisciplinary study of how humans interact with the environment.
• Environmental Education is a learning process that increases people’s knowledge and awareness about the environment and associated challenges, develops the necessary skills and expertise to address the challenges, and fosters attitudes, motivations, and commitments to that will help them to make informed decisions and take responsible action now and in their future.
